When I further looked up the company culture, description, the socials and whilst talking to Biluers during the interview process, I said to myself “I want to be a Biluer!”
“Amazing, talented people to work with. There’s always help available when needed, and everyone is extremely warm and friendly. The CEO is one of the best I’ve ever worked with, so down to earth and approachable.”
At Bilue, we strive for technical excellence but we thrive on human connection. We support one another to challenge ourselves and our clients, in the pursuit of continuous improvement. We’re welcoming, friendly, fun and we value the experience and knowledge of our mates.
Bilue is part of the Culture First revolution. We have a dedicated People & Culture function and we subscribe to the belief that culture is the biggest lever that any organisation has to drive performance.
Our people are inspired by our commitment to creating mobile & emerging technology that delivers meaningful impact to humans. Engaging any one of our people means engaging Bilue and all we stand for.

We work on client projects as part of an agency model at Bilue.
We’ll usually spend around one year with a client on average, with check-ins around the 6 to 9 month mark to make sure we’re enjoying the work and that our talents are being best used. We work in an embedded way, joining client teams and working alongside their people.
Engineers at Bilue follow an agile (Scrum) way of working with retrospectives and sprints. Collaboration happens across tools like Slack, Jira, Miro, Figma, and Zoom.
We don’t try to impose a “one size fits all” way of working on our clients. Instead, we prefer to fit in seamlessly with client teams, adopting our client’s preferred ways of working while still contributing improvements, new ideas and solutions, and gently challenging the status quo when it makes sense. For example, we recently introduced “Desk Checks” with some of our clients, where we encourage technological knowledge sharing between teams.
Most engineers at Bilue work remotely four days a week and come into one of our offices in Sydney or Melbourne one day a week.
Engineers usually aren’t required to work on the client site, although we might occasionally travel to visit our clients for a special occasion like a workshop or team lunch.
The engineering team comes together every fortnight to participate in communities of practice around iOS and Android engineering. We also run a company wide weekly showcase on Friday morning to share our learnings and progress with the rest of the Bilue team.
The team actively participates in the engineering community, helping to organise the CocoaHeads and Google Developer Groups meetups. (Bilue is also the major sponsor of Sydney CocoaHeads, with Bilue’s CEO, one of the original co-founders).
You’ll thrive as an engineer at Bilue if you’re curious, have strong technical fundamentals, are passionate about technology, and enjoy learning new things. Working with a diverse range of clients and technologies means there’s plenty of opportunity for technical and professional growth at Bilue.

Engineers at Bilue are curious. We want to learn new things, and understand how things work.
We adapt to the client’s preferred tech stack and ways of working.
We pride ourselves on our diversity, love a good in-person catchup and welcome new Biluers with open arms.
As leaders in our field, we’re opinionated and passionate about the technologies we use and the problems we solve.
We enjoy the continual learning opportunities provided by our work.
Your technical fundamentals are more important than the tech stack you’ve worked with in the past. Engineers at Bilue are given the space they need to learn new technologies.
Whilst you’re a part of the Bilue team, you’ll receive an annual $1,000 development budget.
A blend of working from the office 1 day/week, working from home (or cafe, co-working space, library and everything in between) and working with the client, in whatever way best suits their needs.
Every employee has access to a development coach who is there to support and nurture your development. We can also match you with an experienced mentor to support you in your learning journey.
Every year Biluers across the country get together for a 2 day/3 night offsite.
In addition to our annual offsite, we like to get together in person. This includes events like our Christmas Party, RUOK Day and International Women’s Day events.
Communities of Practice allows you to join groups of your choosing, so that collective knowledge, experience and insights can be shared practically.
Bilue offers paid parental leave for new Mums and Dads, regardless of who is the primary carer. You get a choice of 2 weeks at full pay or 4 weeks at half pay (separate to any government entitlements). Note: This perk applies only to permanent employees who have worked with us for twelve months or more.
6 weeks of annual leave per year. Say what? That’s right. No, you don’t need glasses, you read that correctly. You’re able to purchase up to 2 weeks of additional leave each year (on top of your 20 days accrued annual leave).
Every Friday we give you the opportunity to showcase any work that you’re proud of, (bonus points for broadway musical style presentations) and relish in the success of your team mates.
We provide a 12-month subscription to the Centr App. The platform provides you with your PT, dietician, chef and wellness coach all in one place, which you can take with you anywhere.
We have a salary sacrifice scheme for technology relevant to your work, so you can get what you need now, while having it deducted from your next 3 pay cycles.
Each year on top of your salary Bilue will contribute $900 (paid monthly) to support your bills.
Bilue works with clients in a wide spectrum of industries, providing you with the opportunity to expand your knowledge and work on a range of technologies.
We give you a fully paid day off to celebrate achieving another rotation around the sun.
